Stylus Performance Treatment $45

LYRA Stylus Performance Treatment (SPT) is a purified water-based, non-alcohol stylus cleaner that helps keep cartridge styli scrupulously clean.

In addition to highly purified water, SPT contains only very small amounts of organic chemical cleaning agents. SPT has proven to be completely safe to use with all phono cartridges (not only LYRA's). Whatever the cartridge, excessive amounts of liquid should never be applied to the stylus and cantilever.

A key component of SPT is the accompanying brush which has been designed with super-soft bristles. Thanks to the bristles it is OK to drag the brush across the diamond stylus of the cartridge. Most other stylus brushes on the market have harder bristles that are not gentle with the diamond stylus, and could potentially cause damage. Even the LYRA brush must not be allowed to come into contact with any other part of the cartridge.

Upper models of the LYRA cartridge range such as the Skala and Titan i come with a free bottle of Lyra SPT. For other models, and for refills, Lyra SPT is available as a separate product from your local Lyra distributor/retailer.

 CONCEPT CARTRIDGES

To compliment their Concept turntable, Clearaudio has introduced two affordable, high-performance cartridges, the Concept MM (Moving Magnet) and Concept MC (Moving Coil). Due to the unique "frictionless magnetic bearing" design of Concept's Verify tonearm, either cartridge is available factory pre-installed on the Concept turntable at a special package price. Both Clearaudio Concept MM and MC cartridges are also available separately for use on Clearaudio or other brand turntables.

The Concept MM features an aluminum body and is a high output moving magnet cartridge based on Clearaudio's popular Aurum Wood Classic mkII. Its sound is both musical and inviting, with classic moving magnet warmth and body.

The Concept MC features an aluminum-magnesium alloy body and is a low output moving coil that follows in the design footsteps of their popular v2 Gold series. Its sound is both refined and involving, with classic moving coil inner detail and dynamics.

THE CLEARAUDIO V2 MOVING COIL CARTRIDGE LINEUP

Clearaudio has significantly improved our fully symmetrical MC design, first patented in 1980.

We redesigned the generator in a revolutionary way by positioning and doubling the magnets (to 8 pcs.) so the coils are operating in a much stronger magnetic field. Furthermore we have chosen the strongest magnetic material available: super neodymium. Through these achievements, the efficiency has been raised by 30%, which results in an output of up to 0.9 mV at 5cm/sec. All models now utilize the improved V2 generator.

The new Micro-HD Diamond tip provides a hybrid parabolic geometry with a stylus radii of 0.008mm x 0.040mm. The total mass (0.00016g) is a fifth of the previous diamond stylus.

Cartridge body resonances, while tracking in the groove, are minimized through the twelve finger design of the mounting plate, each finger with a different radius. This is the result of our constant research and development.

The cartridge bodies of our 5 models: Goldfinger, Titanium, da Vinci, Stradivari and Concerto are made out of the following: gold, titanium, ceramic coated aluminum, Ebony and Satinee wood. The generator construction of the new V2 moving coil cartridge generation is absolutely symmetrical: mechanically, magnetically and electrically, our unique design. All Clearaudio moving coils use our proven 24 ct. pure gold coils.

Talismann                       Concerto                            Stradivari                         Da Vinci                          Titanium                        Goldfinger

A clear breakthrough in analog music reproduction has been achieved with this new MC v2 cartridge generation. The new generation is able to reproduce a dynamic range of 100 dB with a frequency response of 10 Hz up to 100KHz.

For the first time in 50 years you will see 100dB dynamic range reproduced from the vinyl record in the following graph. The following measurement, a trackability test at 80 microns, proves the 100dB dynamic range. The peak Level (blue graph) in relation to the record noise (green graph) shows definitely a 100dB dynamic range.

Moving Magnet

Ortofon has designed and manufactured magnetic cartridges since 1969. In providing an economic alternative to the renowned Ortofon moving coil cartridges, the magnetic models have established a firm position for themselves among music lovers and audiophiles all over the world. Sophisticated styli, light and rigid cantilevers, and advanced magnetic circuitry have produced a level of quality which is state-of-the-art within the magnetic category

Moving Coil

Nothing demonstrates more convincingly Ortofon´s commitment to be the world´s last cartridge manufacturer than the ongoing development of new state-of-the-art models, and Ortofon will continue to refine upon the level of sound quality attainable from analogue recordings.

Since 1948 Ortofon has introduced about 100 different moving coil models, and more are to follow.

Contrary to other types of phono catridges, the moving coil principle is not suited for mass production. Each of the four coils contains between 11 an 24 turns of wire, depending on model, and has to be wound by hand under a microscope. The wire itself is much thinner than a human hair. The high degree of craftsmanship involved is one of the "secrets" behind Ortofon's reputation

SPU

Ortofon’s SPU cartridges continue the tradition of the first ever Moving Coil cartridges as originally engineered by Mr. Robert Gudmandsen and produced by Ortofon in the late 1950s. Praised for their refined linearity and full body, these cartridges have remained a favourite throughout the years, both for modern and vintage high-end applications. This year we decided to give our SPU fans around the world an opportunity to get a collection of the four most famous SPUs, each of them being a very special collector's item.
