Specifications





Like the Steelhead, each channel employs the two triode sections of a 6922 for amplifying duties with highly accurate passive RIAA equalization networks. In the Chinook, the signal is then directly coupled to another 6922 dual triode serving as the output driver in a White Follower configuration. This output stage circuit is our favorite because of its super-low output impedance and beefy current-driving capabilities. It can drive long cable lengths and difficult loads, tube or solid-state. Bring it on. No wimpy cathode followers here!
Setting up the Chinook couldn't be easier. There are two internal settings for optimal gain: 45dB for Moving-Magnet cartridges and 60dB for Moving-Coil cartridges. Set it and forget it! The back panel contains DIP switches for adjusting the input resistive and capacitance loading values. 31 possible options between 26 and 800 Ohms plus 47k Ohms and 7 capacitive loading choices between 50 pF and 350 pF provide flexibility to match any cartridge and fine tune the tone. Audiophile-grade and time-proven componentry is used throughout, embodying Manley's dedication to seductive sonics, combined with the reliability that professionals around the world depend on. Phonmena II MM/MC The Phonomena II Phono Stage from Michael Yee is a
replacement for the award winning Phonomena. The Phonomena II is based on the
existing Nova Phonomena but without the battery pack. The Phonomena II was
introduced at the 2008 CES Show together with a Benz Micro SLR cartridge and the
sound was magic!
Built in California, the Phonomena II is a phono stage
with incredible flexibility and performance. Based on the discrete, circuit
developed by designer Michael Yee for the Nova, the Phonomena II has rear panel
accessible switches for gain and loading.
The Phonomena II is a complete
phonograph preamplifier with RIAA equalization that amplifies the output signal
of a phonograph cartridge, either moving-coil or moving-magnet, up to a nominal
"line level". The Phonomena II may be used with a receiver or an integrated
amplifier. If you use separate components, a line level control unit
(preamplifier) is required before the power amp, since there is no independent
volume control for the Phonomena II unit. The Phonomena II's power supply
connects to the wall with the supplied wall-mount
transformer.

Nova MM/MC Phono Stage

Musical Surroundings is pleased to introduce the Fosgate
Signature phono preamp from world-renowned audio designer Jim
Fosgate.
Most famous for his work on surround sound (Dolby Pro-Logic II,
etc.) and car audio (Rockford-Fosgate car stereo), Jim listens to tubes and
vinyl in his personal system. His passion for analog and tube sound has lead to
the development of the Fosgate Signature phono preamp. Jim Fosgate has chosen
Musical Surroundings to bring his very special design to market.
Over the past 30 years, Jim Fosgate built and tested more than 100 different designs before settling on the one that became the Fosgate Signature. This design features all tube amplification and rectification with no solid-state devices in the signal path, switchable moving magnet/moving coil gain setting and variable loading settings from 100 to 100K ohms. The industrial design of the Fosgate Signature is clean and modern, using blue LED illumination for the tubes, yet also retro, proudly displaying its 7 tubes (with no cage) and real wood end caps.

This newly designed MC-transformer delivers a detailed reproduction with a touch of warmth accompanied by a full bodied sound quality. Compared with existing models, ST-80 SE has a larger bobbin, more layers in the permalloy core and more coil windings.
The transformer is magnetically shielded in a permalloy case, which in turn is inserted into a robust 10mm thick aluminum cylinder bored out of a solid aluminum block. Together with the heavy metal case the transformers effectively isolates against environmental noise.
The stability of the transformer is superb thanks to its substantial weight of 1.5kg, ensuring it stays in place even when cables are attached.
The ST-80 SE is built as a pure dual mono model, which ensures maximum channel separation.
Internal point-to-point wiring is made by Teflon insulated, solid-core pure OFC copper-wire plated with gold. Together with high quality gold plated RCA jacks with Teflon insulation that ensures the optimum signal transmission and integrity.
The ST-80 SE will be a perfect match to most high quality MC cartridges, such as the Cadenza series, the MC A90, the MC Windfeld, the new Xpression as well as the SPU’s.
