The TD 550 is based on the construction of the TD 350 and like it comes equipped with a suspended chassis and the belt drive around the outer rim of the platter. The player‘s generous dimensions allow the mounting of 12-inch tonearms. The tonearm platform is made from extremely stiff carbon fibre compound which ensures a very rigid coupling of platter and tonearm. If necessary, the suspended chassis can be conveniently adjusted in height by thumb screws on top of the plinth. The sturdy feet can likewise be adjusted in order to achieve a level position. Owing to its electronically controlled start-up procedure the extremely silent AC synchronous motor will drive the platter to the selected speed within no time. For making signal connections the TD 550 has been equipped with balanced (XLR) as well as unbalanced (RCA) output jacks. READ MORE....

The uncompromising approach to design, from concept and choice of materials to finish and execution has produced a turntable that sets new standards in vinyl replay. Rather than looking at existing designs for inspiration, to embellish or re-engineer Avid started from a clean sheet, not only going back to first principles but using an "outsight" principle of design for each component. A jigsaw of parts, each essential to form the final pictorial transparency that is the music you hear, and not the equipment you play.  READ MORE....

The Teatro’s phono cartridge uses a special 2-piece titanium body which provides a superior strength to weight ratio and is designed to minimize resonance and reflected energy. Its internal construction is radiused and includes a fixture for rigid mounting of the MC generator. The generator is an extremely efficient electro-mechanical design, using separate coils for each channel for superior channel separation. The coils are wound with Ohno cast (OCC) mono-crystal high-purity oxygen-free copper wire. Neodymium magnets are combined with a special soft magnetic alloy yoke consisting of cobalt and iron to produce an output of .4mV at 5cm/sec. Coil impedance is 12Ω allowing the use of many phono stages. A solid boron cantilever with a diameter of .26mm is fit with a line contact stylus (40 x 7µm) and the dynamic compliance is 18 x 10-6 cm/dyne for enhanced tracking. READ MORE....

In the 1970s, Yosiaki Sugano, a renaissance man who'd had success as an artist, musician, swordsman, calligrapher and business executive, became the creator of the world's most renowned phono cartridges. He enlisted universities, specialized industries and master craftspeople to create the special parts that comprised his masterpieces. Sugano was one of the first to use 4-nines copper, and current Koetsu production uses 6-nines copper. Sugano developed and fostered a vision of unparalleled beauty and performance. Each cartridge became a one-of-a-kind, pampered piece of perfection. Sugano's pride lived in the very limited run of each model. READ MORE....

Isamu Ikeda’s passion for the perfect analog sound began in the 1940’s when being dissatisfied with the production at a previous audio company, Mr. Ikeda decided to form his own company the world famous Fidelity Research Inc. Its products have been welcomed by audiophiles and music fans the world over, including the Imperial Household Agency and the Imperial Family. By the time the company released such systems as the FR-7 and FR-64s in 1978, it had grown to be a world-class audio manufacturer, developing the world's first air-core quadropole structure for FR-7

Ikeda's enthusiasm for the revival of analogue records continued unabated. In the same year (2000), he established Ikeda Sound Laboratories Company. For Ikeda, this company was a place where he was able to do things that had been impossible under mass production at Fidelity Research, that is, enhancing the precision of manufacturing, pursuing handmade production and experimenting with new ideas freely. Of course, all the products were designed, built and inspected by Isamu Ikeda himself.  READ MORE....

The literal translation of the Japanese word ‘Kiseki’ is ‘Miracle’ and with its Purpleheart and Blue models, the company embraces the Kiseki philosophy for music replay. Here at Cymbiosis, we stock the Kiseki Blue N.S. (“New Style”) variant with a highly resonant-free aluminium body which is shorter than the Kiseki Blue N.O.S. (“New Old Style”). As such it is easier to install and use in most tonearms.

The Kiseki Purpleheart N.O.S. is the second “re-born” incarnation of the original Purpleheart from the 1980s. The body, as it was in the original Purpleheart, is machined out of solid Purpleheart wood. The motor uses technologies both past and present to create the perfect balance for Kiseki. The new incarnation of the Purpleheart easily surpasses its predecessor and takes the Kiseki Purpleheart cartridge to a new level.

The Kiseki Blue N.S. is the first “new style” Kiseki cartridge. The typical, but shorter, Kiseki body is machined out of solid aluminium and the motor is built from best available parts. It also features pure iron coils as well as a solid boron cantilever.  READ MORE....

LPs are precious: Not only for their excellent sound quality but in many cases as irreplaceable collector’s items. Even when great care is taken, over time it becomes inevitable that they become dirty. Careful cleaning of discs is particularly important to preserve their value. The disc is inserted into the machine’s opening vertically from above and the red button is pressed. the gentle cleaning process runs fully automatically during which time the yellow LED lights up. When, after a short period of time, the green LED lights up the cleaned disc can be removed from the apparatus. Counter-rotating micro-fibre cleaning barrels and ultrasonic waves softly remove even deep-sitting dirt particles from the grooves of the LP. When in operation the machine permanently filters the cleaning fluid. Two extremely high-performance motors guarantee effective yet quiet drying of the LP. READ MORE....

The past 3 years VPI has been focusing mainly on new/entry level audiophiles and getting them to embrace vinyl for the first time. With the Prime we wanted to get back to our roots and focus on the existing audience with a table that offers quality hi-end sound while taking advantage of our improvements in technology. The Prime is Mat Weisfeld's first solo design, its shape is meant to have a curvier and sexy look compared to the classic look of our tables over the past 10 years. At same time having the footprint to accommodate the space needed for a 10 inch 3D arm.

The VPI Avenger table was originally a project started by Harry over 12 years ago. In the process of the design the project was dropped in mid-production due to excessive demand by HR-X customers which left the design and proto-type chassis to be mothballed. The good news about the abandoned design is Harry instead shifted his focus into starting and completing the VPI Classic Turntable. READ MORE....

Reed tonearms are equipped with Fast VTA adjustment feature. The idea behind Fast VTA adjustment is that human senses can determine peak performance only if something changes fast, If changes occur relatively slowly, they adapt to "current" situation and it's not easy to tell the difference between the starting situation and the ending one

Among other features, like fine VTA adjustment on-the-fly, it also has a unique possibility of adjusting azimuth while playing a record  Another REED innovation is its bearing system. Although tonearm bearing system can be considered as gimbal, it acts like unipivot one. However, major difference from unipivot system is that instead of a single pivot three pivots and both vertical and horizontal axis' magnetic stabilizers are used. Such bearing system is as rigid as gimbal, but its friction coefficient is as low as in unipivot. READ MORE....
